El campeon del peso Welter de UFC GSP, habla para "Fighter's Only Magazine" sobre su contrincante en el UFC 100, Thiago Alves:
"Si lucharan Thiago y BJ Penn, sin duda apostaria mi dinero por Alves. Sus habilidades me suponen un problema mucho mayor que cualquiera de los que he enfrentado antes. Es, de lejos, el luchador mas completo que he enfrentado.
BJ Penn, Matt Hughes, Koscheck y todos esos chicos… Thiago Alves los ha vencido a todos. Para mi luchar con el es algo muy emocionante, porque el los vencio a todos ellos de una manera... Quiero decir, que los vencio de mejor manera que yo".

"I truly believe that if you would put Thiago Alves and BJ Penn in a fight, I would bet all my money on Thiago Alves, no doubt about it. Skill wise, he’s bringing a lot more problems to the table than everybody that I’ve fought so far. Skill wise in fighting, the best guy that I’ve fought so far," he says,
"BJ Penn, Matt Hughes, Koscheck and like all those guys… Thiago Alves has beaten those guys. So for me fighting Thiago Alves is something very exciting for me because he has beat those guys and he has beat them even in… I would say, in a better fashion that I did."
